Research

The Department of Biology covers a broad range of different life science topics including zoology, plant sciences, neurosciences, microbiology, genetics, cell biology and palaeontology.
Bioinformatic modeling, next-generation sequencing, and confocal laser microscopy represent cutting-edge approaches in the life sciences that are actively employed, further developed, and integrated into research in the Biology department of Bonn. 

Find out more about the various topics, research groups and group leaders on the websites of the institutes and contact the group leader directly if you are interested to pursue your PhD project in its research topic. 

Participation in the graduate school is only open to PhD students who are conducting their PhD project in one of the research groups of the Biology Department or associated institutions.
