You have to be already accepted as a PhD student by one of our BIGS BIO members (group leaders of the Department of Biology at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of the University of Bonn or at the associated Museum Koenig as part of the Leibniz Institute for the Analysis of Biodiversity Change (LIB)). 

Then you can apply for our program.

Registration for the winter term ends on March 1st, for the summer term on October 1st. 

Please submit the following documents: 

• The signed application form
• CV (tabular)
• Copies of all your degree certificates (final grade of your Master`s degree programme: minimum 2.0)
• English language certificate (level B2, successful completion of a Master's degree programme in English or equivalent proof of language skills)
• Copy of your "Promotionsbestätigung" from the Faculty of Mathematics & Natural Sciences (can be submitted later)

Find a PhD position

and get accepted as a PhD student (1) by the supervisor and (2) by the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences.
